WAVELAND — More than 46 years after New Orleans native and current South Mississippian Ken Duncan was injured by shrapnel in Vietnam, he was finally awarded the Purple Heart during a ceremony Tuesday evening in Waveland.
Duncan was beaming with pride during the ceremony. Funny enough, Duncan spent more time thanking his family and friends for coming out to Waveland City Hall.
Before the ceremony, Duncan held court, talking to current servicemen about both his experiences in Vietnam and as a contractor in Afghanistan following 9/11.
