N. Texas assistant a candidate for Southern Miss staff

Posted by PATRICK MAGEE on May 7, 2014

North Texas basketball assistant David Anwar is a candidate to fill a spot on Doc Sadler's staff at Southern Miss.

The news was first reported by Brett Vito of the Denton (Texas) Record-Chronicle.

Although Anwar is speaking with Sadler, the newly-hired USM head coach said Wednesday evening that there has been no decision made on who the final member of his staff will be.

Anwar has worked for Sadler at Arkansas-Fort Smith, UTEP and Nebraska. He is currently the recruiting specialist for Tony Benford at North Texas.

Sadler has hired Jareem Dowling (who worked under Donnie Tyndall at USM) and Jeremy Cox as two of his assistants and Chris Croft has taken on the duties of director of operations.

Both Cox and Croft have worked with Sadler previously.
