Coast to Croatia: Old Dubrovnik

Posted by BERNIE MARINOVICH on May 6, 2014

Tuesday May 6th

After arriving late on Monday afternoon, I had just enough time to walk the Placa Stradum, the main walking plaza in the center of the fortress city of old Dubrovnik.

Early this morning I met with the designated tour guide, Boris, who gave an excellent overview of the city's tumultuous past of wars, earthquakes and cultural influences that are reflected in the architecture and design of the enduring fortress city.

Of course, blocks of stone are only as strong as the people who envisioned, built and defended what has become a world-class destination.

What a wonderful start of this tour on a picture-perfect day of blue skies and cool breezes to enhance the experience even more.  So much to take in in one day but I hope the photos can tell more than I can say in words.
