USM's Sadler hires former Tyndall staff member

New Southern Miss basketball coach Doc Sadler has hired Jareem Dowling, who worked under Donnie Tyndall at USM, as a member of his staff, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to the Sun Herald Monday.

Dowling was hired as the director of player development under Tyndall at Tennessee last week, but Dowling's stint in Knoxville was a short one.

Dowling is already back in Hattiesburg working alongside Sadler.

Dowling, a native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, is highly regarded as a top recruiter with strong international ties.

He was also considered a finalist for the Maryland-Eastern Shore head coaching job last month. The school hired Bobby Collins, who was the head coach at Winston-Salem State.
