Pascagoula duo signs with East Mississippi CC

Pascagoula basketball players Ladatren Deas and former Panther Ladarron Johnson both signed with East Mississippi Community College on Friday.

Deas, a member of the Sun Herald's All-South Mississippi team, averaged 13 points and seven assists a game as the Panthers (24-8) won the 5A South state championship and reached the 5A state semifinals.

The 6-foot-1 Deas will play point guard for the Lions.

Johnson, a 6-foot-7 forward, started out at Jones County Junior College two years ago until a foot injury cut his career short.  He averaged nine points in five games for the Bobcats.

"This is the best group of in-state players we've signed in one recruiting class during my seven years at EMCC," Lions coach Mark White said.
