Reports: Tyndall to become Tennessee head coach

Posted on April 21, 2014

Southern Miss basketball coach Donnie Tyndall was offered the same job at Tennessee on Monday and he plans to accept, Gary Parrish of CBS Sports reports.

Tyndall became the focus of Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart after Louisiana Tech coach Mike White reportedly turned down an offer from the Volunteers earlier on Monday.

Jeff Goodman of ESPN also reported Monday that Tyndall has agreed to a deal with Tennessee.

Tyndall put together a 56-17 record during his two years at USM, leading the Golden Eagles to the NIT quarterfinals both seasons.

Tyndall is very familiar with the Tennessee's traditional recruiting area after serving as an assistant at Middle Tennessee State and as head coach at Morehead State.
