Cochran raises $1.7 million in 2014

Posted on April 15, 2014

Sen. Thad Cochran raised nearly $1.7 in the first quarter of the year, giving him almost $3 million for the primary campaign cycle.

Campaign Manager Kirk Sims said the money came from fundraisers from throughout the state, notably the Delta and Jackson areas, with events in several cities. He said he hadn't studied the report enough to say how much came from the Washington, D.C., area, though he criticized Cochran's opponent, state Sen. Chris McDaniel for raising most of his money there.

"We've seen record amounts of money raised from throughout Mississippi," Sims said. "What that translates into is great encouragement for Sen. Cochran ... throughout the state. They're excited that he's running for re-election and for what he can do for Mississippi."

The campaign reported cash on hand of $1.5 million at the end of the quarter and it raised more than $1 million in Mississippi in that quarter.
