McDaniel schools Glen Beck radio audience on student rights

Posted on March 25, 2014

State Sen. Chris McDaniel told a radio audience students don't lose their rights when they walk through the schoolhouse door.

He was talking about his Mississippi Student Religious Liberties Act but I sure wish he'd been around when I was in school. I think his free speech argument could have saved me some detention time. Back then it was hard to talk to the principal about rights when the geography teacher had just led you by the arm down to the office.

McDaniel was confining his comments to prayer and such, rights every student has. Of course "some teachers" may not know it, he reasons, so we needed a new law to clarify the situation.

Ah, nothing like the clarity of a law written by a lawyer.
