McDaniel: Attempt to stop Common Core funding fails

Posted on March 4, 2014

According to a post on state Sen. Chris McDaniel's Facebook page:
Just moments ago (about 2:44 p.m. Tuesday), members of the Mississippi Senate Conservative Coalition worked to remove funding for Common Core out of this year's education budget (S.B. 1476). An amendment was made to remove the funding for Common Core. We were only able to garner 5 votes to pass the amendment, so it failed. The bill will now proceed to the floor for debate.
