Posted by PATRICK MAGEE on February 28, 2014

The Pascagoula boys basketball team pulled away for a 61-45 victory over West Jones Friday in the Class 5A South State semifinal to earn its fourth straight trip to Jackson to participate in the state semifinals.

Pascagoula will take on Laurel at 7 p.m. today in the Class 5A South State title game.

No matter what went wrong Friday, senior point guard La'Datren Deas was the steadying force for Pascagoula.

Deas had 13 points, eight assists and four steals to back up his Division 8-5A MVP that he earned during the regular season.
