HARRISON COUNTY -- The identity of the second person who died IN Tuesday's traffic accident on Mississippi 67 has been released.
Harrison County Deputy Coroner Charles Wise said Ricky Wayne Junkins, 24, of Perkinston, died of blunt force trauma.
He said it took longer to contact Junkins' family, which is why his identity was withheld.
Authorities responded to the accident at Tradition Parkway just after 1 p.m. Tuesday. Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Jason Gazzo said a pickup was attempting to cross southbound 67 onto Tradition Parkway when it was hit by a Freightliner truck in the right lane.
The previously identified victim, 59-year-old Susan King Whittington of Perkinston, was the pickup's driver, Wise said.
A third victim in the pickup was flown to the University of South Alabama Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and was still listed in serious condition Wednesday evening, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Gazzo said the driver of the Freightliner, which had an empty trailer, was taken to Garden Park Medical Center with minor injuries.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
