Devin Booker scored 30 points in his final game at Arthur Haynes Gymnasium as Moss Point doubles up North Pike 84-42 in round one of the 4A South state playoffs.
At Bert Jenkins Gymnasium, Jahshire Hardnett scored 25 points as Gulfport routed Biloxi 68-44 in their 6A South state first-round contest. Dimitri Cook added 20.
St. Martin routed Hattiesburg 75-53
The Panthers throttled Picayune 74-39 in the first round of the 5A South state tournament as Bobby Nettles scored 15 points.
West Harrison held off a Gautier rally, winning 47-44 as Harvey Smart scored 14 points. Zeke Lee added 13 for the Hurricanes. Lafayette Rutledge led the Gators with 19 points.
Both 4A schools in Bay St. Louis-Bay High and St. Stanislaus-- were eliminated. McComb, who will host the 4A quarterfinals on Thursday, beat the Tigers 65-43. South Pike edged the Rockachaws 60-59. Mitchell Wolk and Jarrod Rigby scored 20 and 19 points, respectively for the Rockachaws.
Pass Christian dropped a heartbreaking 62-59 contest at Lawrence County in their 4A South state elimination game. Malik Woods led the Pirates with 16 points.
On the girls' side, Pascagoula routed Picayune 65-29 to win its 13th straight as Kesi Bradley scored 21 points.
West Harrison downed Gautier 49-30 in the other Girls' 5A South state game, as Ameysha Williams scored 15 points.
Hattiesburg beat St. Martin girls 58-50 in the 6A south state elimination game despite Terrica Williams' 13 points.
In football news, former St. Stanislaus coach Forrest Williams announced Tuesday night on twitter he was named the Football coach/Athletic Director at Long Beach. Williams spent last season as the coach at Madison-Ridgeland Academy.
