Ways to stay safe
A recent uptick in these cases are alarming. To keep this from happening to you is very simple. Do not drive slow in the fast lane. Pay attention. Do not tailgate. If someone wants by let them by. And most important of all, put down the mobile device. You're driving, remember? Please put it down, there's some mean, impatient people driving too and everybody's got a gun. Thank you.
Turn it down!
OK, all you local cops. We can do without sounding your deafening sirens as you lead the parades. I am well grown and do not need that stuff blaring in my ears. Think of the babies and little kids having to deal with that overly loud noise. We can see you, and that is enough. Some cops seem to think they need to run their cars and bikes fast down parade routes with the crowds standing there. Dangerous. Think before you act.
Could have saved oaks
If Biloxi's leaders had listened to the voices of reason, and put the stadium away from the center of town where it belongs, the oaks would not have to sail into history. They could be history right where they stand!
Friends and I eat out for lunch once a month at a different restaurant each time. There are sometimes as many as eight of us. We ask for separate checks and have found our servers to be accommodating. We have never encountered a rude server. Perhaps a rude server might be the reaction to a rude patron. My tip is always 20% because I appreciate that the servers depend on the tips to earn a living. By the way, that means that they are working. I am grateful for those who do a job that many people, myself included, would find too difficult.
Gone too far
I agree with the writer who said unions did wonders for the working class ... in 1900. Now, a century later they have morphed into something completely different. Pedophile teachers get to keep their jobs, the demise of Detroit had major input from the UAW, the makers of Twinkies shut down over a threatened strike. In the 2012 elections, unions contributed about $400 million to political campaigns, which makes them more like a PAC. Like liberalism, unions are a very good idea gone way too far.
