GULFPORT -- Police have arrested a 25-year-old Gulfport man on a charge of murder.
Police Chief Leonard Papania said William Cullen King Jr. was arrested Thursday after police responded to a suspicious medical call in the 2700 block of Gulf Avenue about 11 a.m.
Papania said police found a man who received a head injury by unknown means and was taken to an area hospital where he died as a result of the injury.
During a followup investigation, Papania said, police identified King as the suspect and later found him walking in the area. Papania said he was arrested without further incident.
Police said they discovered King assaulted the victim following an argument.
King is being held at the Harrison County jail in lieu of a $1 million bond set by Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner.
The victim's identity is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.
