My cousin Clayton taught me how to ride a bike, milk a cow, and drive the tractor while the older kids threw bales of hay onto the wagon.
He had a beautiful smile and was always happy.
And now, at 66, he's an inpatient at a veterans center where he's in the final stages of Alzheimer's. I'm 66, on a fixed income, and cannot afford the trip to Pennsylvania to hold his hand and tell him I love him one last time.
My heart just aches.
Keep your loved ones close to your heart and pray Clayton has peace in his final days.
