I would like the baseball team to be called the Biloxi Sea Gulls.
Way to go
Congratulations to the Gulfport High School Navy JROTC rifle team's championship accomplishment this week. Dedication, skill and individual effort resulted in a team win. These young people will likely be good Navy leaders of the future or one of your best employees.
Good luck with that
I just love it when folks attack the ideas of the Tea Party, when their party's ideas have helped get us in the fix we are in. The Tea Party is less than five years old and has yet to garner enough power to do anything but try to halt the runaway spending. Good luck in the future if they fail.
The current fashion seems to be for males to walk around with a five-day stubble on their faces. Here's a news flash. Growing a beard doesn't make you a man anymore than standing in a garage makes you a Corvette.
Dog park, please
Think that Gulfport, Long Beach, Pass Christian or the Bay-Waveland area will ever consider putting in a dog park? It's a great way to get exercise for yourself and your dog plus a wonderful way to meet people with the common interest of saving unwanted dogs (or loving them at least). There are already two dog parks that I know of on the eastern part of our Coast so why not give us something like this on the western side.
I read Sunday that the Volkswagen plant in Tennessee rejected the UAW. It's great to see people stand up against big unions. Unions are being exposed for what they are. The union dues alone will suck the icing right off your cake. If dues were voluntarily paid instead of being taken directly from the worker's checks, there would be no unions. A big part of the financial problems the postal service faces is because of their union. I've said it before, unions are the ruination of this great country.
I want to thank the City of Long Beach for the Discovery Trails walking/biking track. The park started out as a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors while exercising, but there is a growing problem with individuals who now consider it their personal dog park. They allow their dogs to run freely among the walkers and bicyclists with no leashes or control on the track and in the entire park area. The animal control officer and city parks manager cannot be there 24 hours a day. If dog leash signs were posted around the park advising the owners of city ordinances, there would be no excuse. Come on, dog owners, take responsibility for your pets and show some consideration.
