Auburn, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Denson had a game-high 30 points and teammate KT Harrell scored 26, as the Auburn Tigers outlasted the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 92-82, in Southeastern Conference play at Auburn Arena.
Allen Payne chipped in with 14 points and Tahj Shamsid-Deen finished with 10 for the Tigers (12-11, 4-8 SEC), who rebounded from consecutive losses and avenged a Jan. 22 loss to MSU.
Trivante Bloodman led the way with 18 points and nine assists for the fading Bulldogs (13-12, 3-9), who suffered their seventh consecutive loss. Gavin Ware was next in line with 15 points, followed by reserves Roquez Johnson and IJ Ready with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
The Bulldogs had the hot hand early on, as they hit seven of their first nine shots from the floor. However, they went on to make only one more field goal the rest of the half, while Auburn closed out the frame with an 18-3 run to take a 40-25 lead into the break.
The Tigers put the game away with a 52-percent shooting effort in the second stanza to go along with 21 points at the foul line over the final 20 minutes.
Auburn took care of business at the charity stripe as it converted 37-of-41 attempts (.902) for the game.
