BILOXI -- Police arrested a former Biloxi resident Thursday on a charge of promoting prostitution.
Harry Gonsoulin, 52, was taken into custody on a warrant alleging he was directing prostitution activities in Biloxi in September under the pretense of operating an escort service, police Lt. Aldon Helmert said.
Gonsoulin had moved to Pembrook Pines, Fla., but apparently returned to Biloxi to attend funeral services for his father.
He is charged with a felony under a state law enacted in July.
He was booked at the Harrison County jail Thursday night and was held on a $100,000 bond.
Gonsoulin has been targeted in state and federal investigations over the past decade on allegations involving the operation of escort services and prostitution in Biloxi. He has been convicted on related misdemeanors involving the violation of city ordinances at least twice.
