Southern Miss senior point guard Neil Watson has been named Co-Conference USA Player of the Week after a record setting performance last week.

Watson has established a new school record for most consecutive free throws at 44, breaking Jeremy Wise's old mark of 38.

Watson averaged 19.0 points in wins over Old Dominion and East Carolina last week as USM improved to 18-3 and 5-1 in C-USA.

Watson scored a career high 28 points in the victory over Old Dominion and had 10 points, six assists and five steals in the East Carolina contest.

Watson leads USM in scoring with an average of 12.3 points a game.

Watson shared the honor with Louisiana Tech's Kenneth "Speedy" Smith, who had a total of 26 assists in wins over Charlotte and Marshall.

He is currently ranked second in the nation in free throw percentage at 94.3 behind South Carolina's Brenton Williams, who has made 59 of 60 free throw tries this season.
