USM tops Rhode Island on road

Southern Miss beat Rhode Island, 77-64, thanks to a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds from senior forward Michael Craig.

USM closed the game on a 13-2 run to help hold off the Rams in an important road contest.

Senior guard Neil Watson led USM in scoring with 14 points. Joining Watson and Craig in double figures were Jerrold Brooks and Aaron Brooks, who both had 13 points.

Southern Miss improved to 12-2 as it prepares for its final non-conference game of the season against Drexel at 7 p.m. on Friday at Reed Green Coliseum.

Southern Miss starts Conference USA play on Jan. 9 at North Texas.
