BILOXI -- The Commission on Marine Resources on Tuesday increased the commercial red drum quota from 35,000 pounds to 50,000 pounds a year.

Recreational fishermen are allowed to catch more than 780,000 red drum. That would remain unchanged.

The new quota isn't likely to take effect until 2015.
