USM football to play at Alabama in 2014

Posted by PATRICK MAGEE on November 20, 2013

Southern Miss will play a football game on Sept. 13, 2014 at national powerhouse Alabama, the two schools announced Wednesday.

It will mark the first time the two teams have met since 2005.

Alabama leads the all-time series with Southern Miss, 34-6-2.

Southern Miss (0-10) hosts Middle Tennessee State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday while Alabama (10-0) hosts UT-Chattanooga at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Golden Eagles have earned some memorable victories over the Crimson Tide, none more so than the 38-29 decision over Alabama in Bear Bryant's final home game as head coach in Tuscaloosa in 1982.
