Booker: 'No reason' for waiting to sign LOI

— Devin Booker's decision not to sign with Kentucky on the first day of the early signing period on Wednesday inspired a few questions from fans, but it turns out there's no reason for the delay.

“There's no specific reason,” Booker said. “My dad just told me we're waiting until Friday. There's not really a story behind it. I don't really know why.”

The Moss Point senior guard plans to sign his letter of intent with the Wildcats Friday in a low key affair at Moss Point High School.

"Big Blue Nation, they took me in as family," Booker said. "They showed me a lot of love on all social media. I see people around here that are Kentucky fans. They're so happy to have you. They took me in and accepted me and I just can't wait to get up there."

The 6-foot-5 Booker had 39 points and 18 rebounds in Moss Point's 74-68 victory at Hattiesburg on Tuesday.

"It was an intense game," Booker said. "Every time we go to Hattiesburg, it's an intense game. We came out with a win so I had a good time."

Booker believes Moss Point (1-1) will build chemistry with more practice and game action, but head coach Micoe Cotton is fine with where the team stands at the moment.

"I'm feeling pretty good," Cotton said. "I think we ran into a testy Meridian team. They shot the daylights out of it.

"We're going to get everybody's best. We have the people in the right spots. I know (Booker) is going to get double-teamed."
