35 apply for Mississippi DMR deputy director position

BILOXI -- The state Personnel Board received 35 applications for deputy director of the Department of Marine Resources, a spokesman said Wednesday, the deadline for applications to be received by the Jackson office.

DMR Director Jamie Miller has said the position will be the chief financial officer of the agency.

The board will check the applications and forward to the DMR those that meet the qualifications -- which include a master's degree in business administration, public administration, civil/environmental engineering, environmental science, marine resources biology/management, or a directly related field and five years of experience, or a bachelor's degree in those fields and six years of experience.

The board's website says the salary range is $69,846.82 to $122,231.94, but Miller has said the agency can afford no more than $70,000.
