USM selects USF's McGillis as new AD

— Southern Miss is set to introduce South Florida assistant athletic director Bill McGillis as the school's new athletic director today.

McGillis previously served as the athletic director at Evansville from 2002-07.

McGillis arrived at South Florida in 2007 and was elevated to the level of Executive Associate Athletic Director in 2008. He also served stints at Houston and New Mexico.

McGillis replaces former USM athletic director Jeff Hammond, who was not renewed when his contract expired at the end of June.
