Davis to join Golden State summer league squad

Posted on June 28, 2013

Former Southern Miss basketball star Dwayne Davis didn't get picked in the NBA Draft Friday night, but he has been given a shot to earn a spot on an NBA team.

Davis will compete in the NBA Summer League as a member of the Golden State Warriors' squad, he confirmed Friday via text message.

The summer league will last from July 12-22 and will take place in Las Vegas, including many of the players picked in Friday's draft.

Davis improved his standing as a potential pro basketball player with a strong summer that included a spot on the all-tournament team in the Portsmouth Invitational.

Davis earned first-team All-Conference USA this past season after averaging 16.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in his senior season.
