Pascagoula's Caston gets D-1 offer, Hoye set to walk-on

Posted by PATRICK MAGEE on June 10, 2013

Pascagoula football coach Lewis Sims took the time Monday afternoon to give an update on the latest with his football team, and here are some quick notes from our conversation.

* Senior defensive end Caleb Caston received his first Division I scholarship offer recently through Arkansas State.

The offer should the first of several more to come for Caston, who checks in at 6-foot-2, 219 pounds.

Caston registered 61 tackles and nine sacks in 2012, helping lead the Panthers to the Class 5A South State title.

* Sims said that defensive back/receiver Breland Hoye is expected to walk-on at Pearl River Community College for the 2013 season.

Hoye was asked to do a lot of different things in his senior season, playing running back, receiver and defensive back. He also played close to the line of scrimmage at times on defense.

* Sims said that he's had good participation from his players in summer workouts, averaging 50-55 participants.
