Authorities search for armed man who robbed truck stop in George County

Authorities are looking for an armed suspect who held up the 4-mile Truck Stop on Highway 98 East in George County at about 4:40 a.m. Sunday.

George County Sheriff Dean Howell said the suspect got away on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The store clerk says the suspect was male about 5 feet to 5 feet 9 inches, weighing around 150 pounds with a slender build. He also spoke with a "Cajun" type accent according to the witnesses. He was hearing a black hoodie and dark gray jeans.

The store video surveillance showed the man visited the store Friday evening before returning on Sunday morning.
