New Pascagoula coach set to be approved by April 23

The search for the new boys basketball coach at Pascagoula High School has narrowed to a pair of candidates, Pascagoula School District athletic director Greg Freeman said Monday.

Freeman said that the choice for the new coach will likely be made later this week and the candidate will be put before the school board for approval in a meeting scheduled for April 23.

The new hire will replace Tony Combs, who stepped down from the job after two consecutive years of leading the program to the Class 5A semifinals in Jackson.

Names of the candidates have been kept under wraps by Pascagoula during the search process.
