Walk, Run and Bike for Fitness Campaign started Saturday

The city of Moss Point is promoting healthy lifestyles with their fitness campaign.

The first event was held Saturday and participants walked, ran or biked the 3.1 miles through the city. The program continues through June and prizes will be awarded to the person who loses the most weight each month.

According to a city press release, the obesity rate in Jackson County is 71.2 percent and is the leading health concern for Moss Point.

The goal of the program is to reduce risk factors associated with dangerous health issues, including heart disease.
