* The Southern Miss men's basketball team received seven votes in today's USA Today/ESPN Coaches' poll, nine spots out of the top 25.
The Golden Eagles are 16-4 and 6-0 in Conference USA, riding a nine-game winning streak.
It marks the first time that USM has received votes in one of the major polls this season.
USM travels to UAB for a 7 p.m. tip on Wednesday.
* There were no USM players honored by Conference USA week in the league's weekly individual honors.
USM has had only one player honored by the league this season Jonathan Mills on Nov. 27 as Player of the Week.
The Golden Eagles won at Tulsa, 62-59, on Saturday for the program's first win on the road over the Golden Hurricane.
* After New Orleans quarterback Damian Williams switched his commitment from Southern Miss to Mississippi State over the weekend, USM head coach Todd Monken received a new verbal pledge from a new quarterback.
Spain Park High School quarterback Nick Mullens from Hoover, Ala., is a Southern Miss commitment according to his Twitter account.
Mullens was previously committed to UAB.
The 6-foot-1 Mullens was named the Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year this past season after throwing for 40 touchdowns as a senior.
