Return of Gautier's star QB uncertain

Published: October 15, 2012

— Gautier High School quarterback Xavien Johnson did not play during Saturday's 16-0 win over West Harrison and his return to game action is uncertain, coach Chris Peterson said today.

Peterson said that Johnson sat out last week's game because of an "internal team matter" and didn't offer details on the cause of his absence.

Peterson said he didn't know when Johnson would play again.

Junior Jamyrian Quinn received most of the snaps at quarterback last week while sophomore Will Brown also received playing time.

Johnson is a dual-threat quarterback that's hard to bring down as a runner. He is also one of the better linebackers on the Coast when he lines up on defense.

Gautier hosts Pascagoula at 7 p.m. on Friday.
