Stabbing victim in stable condition

Ocean Springs police arrested two Coast men on charges of aggravated assault after a man was stabbed during a bar fight early this morning, officials said.

Police say Justin Dylan Edgerton, 20, of Beach Bayou Drive in Ocean Springs and Richard Edward Ackerman, 20, of Lucky Mays Drive in Gulfport fled Shep’s Fort Bayou Saloon at 1415 Bienville Blvd. after the victim was stabbed in the stomach about 3 a.m.

Witnesses said Edgerton and Ackerman were fighting with the victim inside the bar which led to the assault, Lt. John Flowers said.

The victim, who police did not identify, is in stable condition at Ocean Springs Hospital, he said.

The suspects were taken to Ocean Springs jail and charged with one count of aggravated assault each. Bond has not been set.
