Boise State visits Southern Miss during 2012 season

Defending Conference USA champion Southern Miss will open the 2012 football season at Nebraska on Sept. 1.

The schedule was announced Thursday.

Southern Miss entertains Big East member Louisville on Sept. 29 and Mountain West member Boise State on Oct.6

“As we celebrate ‘A Century of Championships and Commencements,’ we are pleased with our 2012 football schedule,” said Southern Miss Interim Director of Athletics Jeff Hammond. “We have some great events planned for a highly attractive home schedule which features six top quality opponents.”

The Golden Eagles also have home games with East Carolina on Sept. 15. Marshall on Oct. 20, UAB on Nov. 3 and UTEP on Nov. 17.

Road games are at Western Kentucky (Sept. 22), UCF (Oct. 13), Rice (Oct. 27), SMU (Nov. 10) and Memphis (Nov.24)
