The Bay St. Louis Fire Department is battling flames this morning at the old Hotel Reed at the corner of North Beach Boulevard and Ulman Avenue, said Sgt. Wes Mayley with the Bay St. Louis Police Department.

Night watch units first responded to the fire, which most likely started around 4 a.m., Mayley said.

Police have blocked off Beach Boulevard from Ulman to the Demontluzin Avenue. Motorists should avoid the area while firefighers are on scene.

The hotel has been vacant for years and no injuries have been reported, he said.
