MOSS POINT — Ocean Springs Alderman James Hagan has been suspended with pay from his job as building inspector in Moss Point pending further action from the Board of Alderman on Tuesday night, Moss Point Mayor Aneice Liddell told the Sun Herald.
Some of Moss Point's Board of Alderman members were out of town today, but Liddell said she and the Board would decide next week whether to take any additional measures, such as placing Hagan on leave without pay.
Hagan was arrested Tuesday on charges of touching of a child for lustful purposes and embezzlement.
He's accused of fondling a girl under the age of 18 in the sex crime case in Ocean Springs. He's also accused of embezzling a laptop computer he reported stolen last year in Ocean Springs. The laptop was one he used as a city alderman there.
Hagan is out of jail this afternoon on a total bond of $26,000.
