Former deputy gets prison for child porn

GULFPORT - Circuit Judge Larry Bourgeois this afternoon sentenced Mike Chauvin, a former Harrison County deputy sheriff and school resource officer, to three years, day for day, in prison on a guilty plea in a child-pornography investigation.

Chauvin, 50, was employed by the Harrison County Sheriff's Department as a school resource officer at North Woolmarket Elementary when he was accused of having child pornography on his home computer in October 2009. Chauvin was a week or so from retiring after a 24-year career with the sheriff's department.
