Bill Cosby endorses in Miss. governor's race

Posted on November 3, 2011

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Johnny DuPree on Thursday announced two big endorsements of his campaign -- actor/comedian Bill Cosby and former Republican gubernatorial candidate Ron Williams of Moss Point.

In a video press release, Cosby appears with DuPree and says, “I am Bill Cosby and this is my choice for governor of Mississippi,” and “Guess what else? I approve this commercial.”

Earlier, a similar video release had Williams, who came in third in the August Republican primary for governor that Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant won, endorsing DuPree.

Williams urged voters to “put our state ahead of party labels” and elect DuPree.

Bryant this weeks is also getting some big-name and celebrity help, with former Arkansas Gov. and TV host Mike Huckabee, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, once considered a likely presidential candidate, campaigning for him in Mississippi.
