— Police have identified a suspect in a late night stabbing Tuesday as August Walley, 33, of Moss Point.

Chief Keith Davis said Walley has been arrested on a charge of aggravated assault.

The stabbing happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 4000 block of McCall Street, Davis said. The victim, he said, was found lying outside the apartment where the incident occurred "lying in a pool of blood."

She was taken to Singing River Hospital, suffering from as many as 20 stab wounds. She remained in critical condition today, but has been able to provide information about the incident to authorities.

The two women were at another person's apartment home at the time of the assault.

The suspect and the victim knew one another, Davis said, and a motive for the incident was not yet known.
