State's First Lady honored for Katrina work (Updated 2 p.m.)

— Marsha Barbour wiped away tears when she was honored today as "the first lady of first responders," as her husband, the governor, called her during a film compiled in her honor.

Marsha Barbour knew she and her husband would attend the opening of a first responders conference at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, but she had no idea she would be the center of attention. She obviously was touched by the recognition.

She and Gov. Haley Barbour were asked to take seats onstage as speakers recounted all the work she has done after disasters, particularly Hurricane Katrina.
