Sandbags are available now in Harrison County,Hancock County and Jackson counties.
In Harrison County, residents in low-lying areas who want to protect their homes and businesses can get sandbags at the following locations:
-- Lorraine Road Work Center
-- Long Beach Work Center on Seal Avenue
-- Pass Christian City Barn on West North Street
-- DIberville Farmers Market Pavillion on Automall Parkway
In Hancock County, emergency management officials are making sand and bags available for residents of low-lying areas. Residents are urged to bring their own shovels if possible, said Deputy Director John Albert Evans. Evans said senior citizens or residents who need assistance can call 466-8320.
Hancock County locations for sand are:
-- Diamondhead East Recreation Department
-- The old Bay St. Louis government complex, 3068 Longfellow Drive
-- Bayside Fire Department, 6218 West Hinds Street
-- South Road Barn, 6824 Lowerbay Road, Lakeshore
-- West Hancock Fire Department, 16006 Washington St., Pearlington
-- Hancock County Arena, 4184 Kiln-Delisle Road, Kiln
In Jackson County, Supervisors declared a state of emergency and are making sandbags available, self-serve, in the following locations:
-- East Road Department on Mississippi 63 in Escatawpa
-- West Road Department on North Washington Avenue in St. Martin
-- Central Road Department on 8500 Jim Ramsey Road in Vancleave
-- Fontainebleau Fire Department on Mississippi 57
-- St. Andrews Fire Department on Elm Street
-- Forts Lake Fire Department on Forts Lake Road
