Motorists asked to avoid U.S. 90

— Motorists should stay off U.S. 90 because parts of the road are flooded this morning.

Heavy rain has fallen in South Mississippi all night, causing some parts of the beach road to flood. The water is especially bad on U.S. 90 in Pass Christian.

There is a flash food warning in effect for Harrison County until 10 a.m.

"We've still got quite a bit of rain coming in, so people should be aware of any roads that normally flood," said Rupert Lacy, director of the Harrison County Emergency Management Agency. "This is a flash flood situation."

Lacy said the Wolf River is expected to crest at 10 feet sometime tonight, and the flood stage is 8 feet.
