Pearl River County under heat advisory

mmscallan@sunherald.comJune 3, 2011

People in Pearl River County should make sure they have plenty of sunscreen and water today because the county is under a heat advisory until tonight.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory this morning for parts of southeastern Louisiana and Pearl River County. The advisory lasts until 7 p.m.

The temperature likely will reach 98, but the humidity will bring the heat index between 104 and 108 degrees. Residents are advised to stay out of the sun, drink plenty of fluids and check on family and neighbors.

The rest of South Mississippi won't be quite so hot. Most other areas will see highs today in the lower- to mid-90s.
