Mississippi State offensive tackle Derek Sherrod was a second-team choice of the Associated Press All-America team announced today. Sherrod is a senior from Columbus and is considered a top NFL prospect.
Southern Miss placekicker Danny Hrapmann was the third-team choice at his position.
The team is headlined by Auburn duo Cameron Newton, the quarterback who has guided the No. 1-ranked Tigers to the BCS national title game, and defensive lineman Nick Fairley.
LSU has a first-team selection in cornerback Patrick Peterson and a second-team pick in defensive tackle Drake Nevis.
Auburn was one of five teams to put two players on the first team.
