Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College president Willis Lott has told the Sun Herald he is retiring.

Lott said his retirement will become effective in June 2011.

Lott was named president of MGCCC in 1998, succeeding Barry Mellinger, who retired that year. Before becoming president, Lott served six years as an administrator and four years as vice president of the Perkinston campus.

He is the community college's 11th president.
