St. Stanislaus College today announced the resignation of Paul Verlander as principal, effective Friday.

Verlander cited personal reasons for his departure.

Brother Ronald Hingle, president of St. Stanislaus, will assume the responsibilites of principal.

In a letter to parents, Hingle said, "The school's administration has already met to coordinate our leadership for the fourth quarter and to ensure a successful conclusion to what has been a remarkable year in academics, athletics and in extracurriculars. Preparations are continuing for such new initiatives as our 13th year -- post graduate program and the ESL Camp to make the 2010-2011 school year another formative, exciting and rewarding one for all students."

Hingle said of Verlander's departure, "During his time as a teacher, assistant principal and chief administrator, SSC has continued to flourish despite great adversity, especially the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I have especially valued Paul's commitment to and focus on our mission and the great sacrifice of time and personal energy he made to be present to all the programs of St. Stanislaus. We thank him for his contribution to furthering our mission."
