Police looking for other suspectPolice on Thursday arrested one of two suspects wanted in connection with the Washington Avenue murder of James Edward Knight.
Police arrested Calvin Leonard May, of Broad Avenue, on a charge of murder late Thursday afternoon and were looking for a second suspect, identified as Keon Lamonte Mullins.
Police said both men are 34 years old.
Both are accused in the fatal shooting of Knight, 35, who was found lying in the middle of the road near McArthur Street around 2:30 a.m. Monday.
He was in the 13900 block of Washington in the Turkey Creek area.
"Our investigators worked a lot of overtime in developing suspects to bring all parties involved to justice," said Police Chief Alan Weatherford.
May was held at the Harrison County jail under a $2 million bond set by Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner.
No details of the investigation have been released.
Detectives had no clues at all when Knight was found, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport.
Coroner Gary Hargrove said Knight died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
