HARRISON COUNTY — A man held on $300,000 in bonds and his girlfriend are accused of manufacturing meth at a mobile-home park in Long Beach, said Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara.

Donald Wayne Ackers, 40, and Karen Roberts Williams, 33, were found with a meth lab, precursor chemicals and hazardous meth waste in their mobile home, Brisolara said.

Investigators also found meth and methadone, the sheriff said. Methadone is a narcotic pain reliever often prescribed to help detoxify heroin addicts.

The couple were taken into custody Friday after a raid at their residence in the 20300 block of 28th Street.

Ackers and Williams are each charged with manufacturing meth; Williams has additional drug-possession charges.

Both also were arrested on outstanding warrants. Ackers was wanted on two counts each of sale and transfer of a controlled substance. Williams was wanted on a sales charge.

Justice Court Judge Melvin Ray set their bonds, giving Williams a $30,000 bond.

Brisolara said Ackers has two prior felony convictions and can be prosecuted as a habitual offender, which could mean a prison term without eligibility for early release.

Both remain in custody at the Harrison County jail.
