HARRISON COUNTY — Two more of South Mississippi’s most wanted criminal suspects have been taken into custody, this time in Galveston, Texas.

Douglas Cameron Gilbert and Sheli Sisk, aka Sheli Marie Morreale-Sisk, had been sought by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department since Feb. 15. The Pass Christian couple went on the run after narcotics investigators found meth-making ingredients at their home in the 5300 block of Courtney Avenue, said Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara.

Their capture brings to four the number of suspects taken into custody since Sunday, when the Sun Herald published its latest series on the region’s most wanted.

Deputy sheriffs and federal marshals in Galveston found the couple Thursday morning. Galveston police said they were renting a room at a residence in the West Galveston community of Sea Isle, where Gilbert was working for a local contractor.

Gilbert and Sisk, both 27, were sought by Harrison County on a charge of possession of precursors with intent to manufacture meth.

Gilbert was placed on probation a year ago on a 10-year sentence for conviction of manufacturing meth.

The Mississippi Department of Corrections has a warrant for his arrest on a probation violation.

Sisk also is wanted on a worthless-check charge.

Brisolara said the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Gulfport had been looking for the couple and found a connection in Texas.

They are held in Galveston pending extradition.

At least 23 suspects have been captured since the Sun Herald began publishing the “most wanted” series in November 2007.

Two suspects listed in Sunday’s news story were captured Monday.

Christopher Lee Luther, 38, was found in a Diamondhead home based on tips called in from the public, said Brisolara. Luther is accused of identity theft and defrauding banks in Harrison County.

Willie Julius Dove, 20, was sought by the Gulfport Police Department on a residential burglary charge. Police found Dove in a traffic stop on U.S. 49.
