A Florida man is in jail today, charged with armed robbery in Gautier.

Gautier Police arrested Aaron J. Bates, 26, of Milton, Fla., after police responded to a 911 call from a residence in south Gautier.

A couple at the residence said they had been robbed in the driveway of their home after returning home from shopping in D'Iberville. The couple said they noticed the suspect following their vehicle.

Once home, the man was confronted by the suspect, who brandished a gun and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of money.

Gautier police located the vehicle, which led to a multi-agency police chase that ended when the suspect crashed his vehicle in Biloxi.

The victim identified the suspect and Bates was charged with armed robbery as well as numerous traffic violations stemming from the incident.

Bates was taken to the Jackson County Adult Detention Center, where he was being held with no bond set.
